As I announced in my last post I'm pregnant! Wooo! 36 weeks now to be exact. And oh boy has it been a ride. I thought I'd do a little summary of how this pregnancy has been going, how was it different from my first, and does having a toddler on top of it all make a difference? (spoiler alert: yes it definitely does).
1st Trimester:
Finding out I was pregnant was a huge shock. We absolutely were not trying for a second as I told everyone and their grandmothers that I wanted a 3 year age gap. But oh well sh*t happens. I found out right before Anthony and I were set to leave on a Vegas trip for his birthday, so great timing on my pregnancy senses to tingle and prompt me to take a test. I didn't have any symptoms that made me think I was pregnant. I was due to get my period that day so technically I wasn't even late yet. I just had a feeling something was different. So I rushed to the drugstore after dropping Aria off at daycare and took a test right there in the bathroom I couldn't even wait to get home I just had to know. And of course as soon as that second line popped up I freaked out. I wasn't ready for a second baby, Aria is still so young. But I always knew we wanted more than one so I suppose no time like the present to get the ball rolling. I rushed home and caught Anthony before he left for work and dropped the bomb on him. I tried to be cute and pretend it was a birthday present for him but I was acting like a total crazy person I was so nervous. While nervous, he was just as excited which I knew he would be.
Now in terms of symptoms when they started popping up. Oh my GOSH. The morning sickness this time around truly kicked my butt. I was throwing up, exhausted and still pushing through to take care of Ari. It was a rough few weeks to say the least.
2nd Trimester:
But then the shining light that is the 2nd trimester started to beam. I had my energy back, we were going out. I even managed to handle an international vacation!! I got the bulk of my deep cleaning and organizing done, it was a great time.
3rd Trimester:
And just like it was last time, this where things get hard again. However I will say in some ways I've had a better time this pregnancy than the last. For starters it's nowhere near as hot in LA as it was two years ago. I was huge in over 100 degrees weather it was miserable. Thankfully now it has been pretty cool and hoping it stays that way for the rest of the month. Also Aria did this really fun thing where her head was literally sitting on top of a pelvic nerve so I'd get nonstop sharp shooting pains to my pelvis. It was excruciating. And she gave me constant heartburn I couldn't even take a sip of water it hurt so bad. This time around I have a little bit of those issues but nowhere near the same level of pain so that's been a total blessing. What's difficult is that my sweet toddler has no idea why I struggle to get up and down off the floor or sometimes I can't pick her up. It's very tiring chasing an active little girl when you're about to give birth.
So I'm definitely more exhausted but much less pain. I think overall it's been going easier. Definitely feels like it's going faster. I can't even believe I'm going to meet my new baby girl so soon.
